Painting

This workshop is an exercise in using industrial materials along with elements of painting in order to convey a message or story. Emphasis will be made on areas such as balance, rhythm, scale, color, texture, shape, contrast, and material.

Each student will have the option of working on a 3 x 3 or 1 x 1 square. Creativity will be encouraged in the selection of materials and the way they are arranged in the given area. Boards, paints, and various materials will be provided however students are encouraged to bring alternative materials that they would like to work with such as: fabrics, cardboard, paper, etc.

Francesca L. Jeune is a painter and sculptor from Miami, Florida. She holds a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, Architectural Studies, and is a current MFA candidate at Rochester Institute of Technology. Francesca uses a combination of mixed media such as sheet metal, wood, wood staining agents and paints to create paintings that evoke ghostlike figures floating on distressed surfaces or in ambiguous spaces. She has exhibited in Miami’s Frost Art Museum, Art Miami, Art Basel Miami Beach, New York, Connecticut, and abroad in Sao Paulo Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
